Frequently Asked Questions
If any of your questions aren't answered by this resource, feel free to reach out by calling or texting the number above. Thank you for considering Ellis County Moving Company.
How is your pricing structured?
Texas State Law requires all moving companies to provide written estimates in advance. We send ours in a straightforward email that is easy to understand.
For Full-Service Truck Moves, we bill by the hour. Our written estimates are "Not To Exceed" in nature - meaning they show the most your move will cost if it requires the full estimated time to complete. This is the best approach for whole-home moves.
For Flex Moves, we use binding estimates. This means you are given a set price that matches the details of your move. Flex Moves are typically short in nature, small in scope and are a perfect fit for simple, binding estimates.
If you are planning a whole-home move, we strongly encourage "Not To Exceed" estimates. There's simply too much to document, too much that can change before moving day, and too high of a chance you get upcharged if you use a binding estimate.
Do you charge Trip or Travel fees?
Some movers charge you from the moment they leave their station until the moment they return. Others charge a flat "trip fee" on moves to account for their travel time.
We do neither of these things.
Assuming your entire move is within Ellis County, billing begins when we arrive and ends when once we finish at your new home.
Why should I choose you?
We are newer than most moving companies in the area.
When we launched in 2024, we saw the negative stereotypes surrounding the moving industry and we knew there was a better way to do things. We built our company around integrity and look to it as a means of growing our faith - not just chasing profits.
Some companies may point to our age as a weakness. We believe it's what pushes us to be better. To earn your business, we have to work harder, communicate better, and hold ourselves to a higher standard every single day.
Do you have a minimum?
We have a three hour minimum on Full-Service Truck Moves.
We do not have any minimums on our Flex Moves. If you have a quick job you need help with, make sure to ask about our Flex Move option!
Are you Licensed and Insured?
Yes on both fronts!
We are a fully licensed, professional moving company. Our US DOT and TX DMV numbers can be found at the bottom of our website. Ellis County Moving Company is a registered LLC in the State of Texas.
We are fully insured. We carry general liability insurance for our employees and your home, cargo insurance for your possessions, and auto insurance for the trucks we use. We also offer Full Value Protection if you would like to purchase it ahead of your move.
What size truck is included?
For Full-Service Truck Moves, we use a 26-foot box trucks equipped with hydraulic liftgates capable of supporting 2,500 pounds.
For Flex Moves, we pull an enclosed 16' cargo trailer behind a 3/4 ton heavy duty pickup.
Do you own your own trucks?
Yes we do! We also partner with Penske to rent additional trucks if any are needed for your move.
How far can you move me?
We are focused on being the best local mover in Ellis County. We mainly complete moves within a 100mi radius from our headquarters in Waxahachie.
Do you charge a deposit?
We do not charge a deposit.
Some moving companies will warn that without a deposit, nothing is to stop your mover from no-showing you the day of. This type of behavior could not be further from our values. If you are trusting us with your business, you should not have to pay us a deposit to ensure we keep up our end of the bargain.
See "What is your cancellation policy?" below for more information on making changes to your reservation.
What is your cancellation policy?
We kindly request you let us know as soon as you become aware of changes that may be made to your reservation.
We understand life is full of change and do not charge penalties for cancellations; however, we would appreciate you keeping us in mind as your circumstances change.
What is your claims policy?
It is extremely rare for our team to damage your home or belongings. In the event we do, we give all customers seven days after their move is completed to report any damages believed to have been caused by our team. From there, we will formally initiate our claims process and work with you and our insurance company to do what is right.
What coverage options do you offer for my items?
Like all professional moving companies, we offer Released Value Protection at no cost to you. Under Released Value Protection, our maximum liability for loss or damage is $.60/pound per item. This means a 100lb dresser would yield a maximum liability of $60.
Unlike some movers, we offer Full Value Protection as well. This is an optional add-on and includes dollar for dollar replacement or repair of the item at its current value. Using the same example above, Full Value Protection would cover the current value of the dresser in full. If you are interested in purchasing Full Value Protection, make sure to let us know ahead of time so we can complete the necessary paperwork before moving day.
